Inside Indiana Business President Gerry Dick recently hosted Jay Height for an in-depth conversation on the Business & Beyond podcast about Shepherd Community Center’s work to break the cycle of poverty in Indianapolis.

In the interview, Height, Shepherd’s executive director for nearly 30 years, discussed the ministry’s efforts to provide food, housing, health care, educational assistance and other services for neighbors on the near East side.

As Height noted, the true work of Shepherd involves forging relationships to share God’s love, combat isolation and provide hope.

“The epidemic that is ravaging our community is loneliness,” Height told Dick. “And we really, really want to make connections (with our neighbors).”
