Food builds connection. Food is an equalizer. Memories are often made around a table over a shared meal. Food is a basic need for everyone. But our Shepherd neighbors live in a food desert, where access to affordable and healthy food is limited.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since the beginning of Shepherd, food has been an essential part of what we do. <strong>In 1988, Shepherd first began serving our neighbors through a Food Pantry. <\/strong>Over the last 40 years, Shepherd has served our neighbors\u2019 hunger and food access needs through a variety of programs &amp; services:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Food Pantry<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Food Co-Op<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Chicken Coop<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Honeybee Farm<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Teaching Kitchen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On-Site Garden<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Greenhouse<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shepherd kitchen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Community Meals<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Cooking Classes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neighborhood Deliveries<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Door Gardens<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Holiday Totes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Weekend Take-Home Bags<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Partnerships with Gleaners, Hatch, USDA, Fair Oaks Farms, Indiana Grown, and more!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Food is an immediate need and a way to build relationships and come alongside our neighbors to address the deeper challenges in each of their lives. The most vulnerable among us are going hungry.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Shepherd, we are breaking the cycle of poverty by ensuring our neighbors have futures with full bellies and food-security for the next 40 years.
